Older dogs are often overlooked at animal shelters, especially those who need to be the sole pet in the household. However, those who adopt such dogs are missing out on the chance to receive an immense amount of love. Leroy, an 11-year-old dog, has been residing at Dog Tales Rescue & Sanctuary in King City, Ontario for the past 7 years, waiting for someone to adopt him. Sadly, he has spent countless nights alone in the kennel.

Stephanie Munro, an employee at the shelter, made a compassionate decision to treat Leroy to a weekend getaway at a cottage, while leaving her two dogs at home.
She shared a video of Leroy’s vacation on TikTok, which is sure to bring tears to your eyes. The caption poses a question, “Will Leroy ever find his permanent family?”
Leroy is overjoyed as he sniffs and explores the natural surroundings. Being a senior dog, he prefers to live life at a leisurely pace, enjoying naps.
Leroy had become accustomed to sleeping on the floor after spending countless nights in the kennel, and didn’t realize that the dog bed was meant for him.
Stephanie, being compassionate, wanted to show Leroy that the bed was his own, so she enlarged it and offered him treats. She mentioned, “He slept very comfortably on it throughout the night.”
Numerous viewers were heartbroken after learning about Leroy’s story and couldn’t believe that he hadn’t been adopted yet. They praised Stephanie for her kind gesture. “How could he have been there for so long? He’s such a kind-hearted soul. Bless you for giving him a break ๐ฅบ I wish I could adopt him, but I already have a pet dog at home ๐พ,” one person commented.
Another individual wrote, “7 years?! ๐ญ I hope he finds his forever family.”
This laid-back dog would be overjoyed to find a permanent home where he is the sole pet and there are no children. He promises to shower you with unconditional love and make you smile each day.
Stephanie expressed her concern, saying, “Leroy is now 11 years old and is slowing down. It would break my heart to see him spend another year of his precious life at the shelter.”
Despite her affection for Leroy, she cannot adopt him as she already has two dogs. Nevertheless, she is optimistic that someone will come forward after seeing the video and adopt him. Unfortunately, no applications have been submitted for Leroy yet, so she urged viewers to share the video with their friends and family to help him find a forever home.
