There are few things as adorable as a young dog that has a special attachment to a stuffed toy, especially when they’re ready to do anything to protect their beloved cotton companion.
Jacqueline Esty’s dog Habs is a perfect example of this kind of attachment, as he was willing to go to great lengths to ensure the safety of his beloved teddy bear. Monica Collins, a canine expert, notes that stuffed toys play several important roles in the lives of dogs, including acting as siblings, prey, and playthings. It’s no wonder Habs was so distressed when he suddenly couldn’t find his treasured teddy bear.
Jacqueline Esty had recently put her dog Habs’ favorite stuffed animal in the washing machine for some routine cleaning. Not thinking too much of it, she headed on up to bed to get a good night’s rest.
To her surprise, she noticed that Habs hadn’t followed her to bed as he usually does. Searching for her furry friend, she headed to the laundry room and found him standing outside the see-through washing machine.
Habs was observing his teddy bear going through a wash cycle! He had been so worried about his toy’s well-being that he was hesitant about leaving the area until he knew that the bear was secure.
After recording the adorable moment, Jacqueline comforted Habs and told him that his teddy bear was safe. She convinced him to come back to bed with her, and they slept for a few hours. However, in the middle of the night, Habs woke up and became worried about his teddy bear once again. He hurried downstairs to the laundry room and became more distressed when he saw that his toy was not in the machine.
Jacqueline came to check on him and showed him that his teddy bear was already washed and dried, waiting for him in his toy basket, unharmed.
Habs was undoubtedly glad to discover that his beloved toy, which he had been with for three years, was safe and secure.
