The owner of the dog noticed that her pet was taking longer than usual during its potty break, and when she looked outside, she discovered why.

The irresistibly cute Hazel is one of those dogs that never fails to bring a smile to her owner’s face with her actions and happy-go-lucky attitude. Hazel is a mix of Yorkie, Chihuahua, and poodle and lives with her owner Monica Burks, 48, in Abilene, Texas. She is a compassionate pup, much like some service dogs.
One day, Monica took her three-year-old dog Hazel outside for a potty break, even though it was raining.
After some time had passed, Monica grew concerned that Hazel had not returned.
She looked outside to see if Hazel had gotten into any trouble, and was shocked by what she saw.
Hazel had discovered a tiny kitten, alone and crying in the rain. Hazel showed interest in the kitten and quickly became attached to the lonely and soaking wet little creature.
By pure instinct, Hazel understood that the kitten needed her help, and her only solution was to lead her new friend into her own home and to her owner Monica.
The kitten initially followed Hazel tentatively but stopped after a few steps. However, Hazel kept turning towards her, encouraging her little friend to follow.
Despite the heavy rain, Hazel refused to give up on the frightened kitten. It was a long journey, but eventually, they made it to the front of the house.
Monica was amazed when she saw Hazel bringing the stray kitten to their home in the pouring rain. She quickly took out her phone and captured this amazing moment to share with others.

You can hear the rain falling heavily on the roof of the house, the car, and the sidewalk, but the pathetic meows of the kitten can still be heard.
The kitten tries to run away, but Hazel won’t let her go. Every time the kitten comes closer to Hazel, wondering who her savior is, and follows her obediently, meowing loudly.
It took several tries, but eventually Hazel was able to lead the kitten to the front doorstep and the welcome mat. However, the kitten was too small to climb over the high step into the house.
So Hazel carefully picked up the kitten by the scruff of her neck and they went inside the house together. As soon as they reached the safety of Hazel’s warm and dry home, the kitten rolled onto her back.
Monica began caring for the kitten with Hazel watching over them. They named her Sheba, and Monica’s brother Michael ultimately adopted her.
As Hazel and Sheba had formed a strong attachment, Michael and Monica made sure they spent plenty of time together. Their affection for each other was evident.
